Real Madrid have become the first football club to surpass €1 billion in revenue during a single season, an achievement largely driven by the income generated from the revamped Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, according to a report by Deloitte.
Deloitte’s annual Football Money League ranks Real Madrid at the top with a staggering €1.05 billion ($1.09 billion) in revenue for the 2023-24 season. They are followed by Premier League champions Manchester City, with $872 million, and Paris Saint-Germain, with $839 million.
The $216 million gap between Madrid and second-placed Manchester City is the largest margin ever recorded by Deloitte.
Revamped Bernabéu Boosts Matchday Revenue
The dramatic transformation of the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium doubled Real Madrid’s matchday revenues to $258 million during the 2023-24 campaign. The renovation, which began in 2018 and cost over $1 billion, aimed to make the iconic stadium a major source of income.
The state-of-the-art venue now features an undulating metal roof, expanded VIP areas, retail outlets, and a retractable pitch, making it a multi-purpose entertainment hub.
Since its reopening, the Bernabéu has hosted high-profile events, including performances by pop superstar Taylor Swift.
