WCQ Play-Off: Super Falcons Will Give Their Best Against South Africa – Madugu

Super Falcons head coach, Justine Madugu, says Nigeria will give everything when they face South Africa on Thursday in a crucial play-off for a place in the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualification pathway.
The 10-time African champions missed out on automatic qualification after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Cameroon in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
With their title hopes ended, Nigeria must now overcome fierce rivals South Africa in the play-in fixture to secure a place in the Inter-Confederation Playoff Tournament, which provides another route to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Madugu acknowledged the importance of the encounter and assured Nigerians that the Super Falcons would give their best against Banyana Banyana.
Nigeria will face Desiree Ellis’ South African side at the Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca, with kick-off scheduled for 9pm on Thursday.
The highly anticipated encounter is expected to be a fiercely contested battle between two of Africa’s leading women’s football nations, with Nigeria needing victory to keep their World Cup qualification hopes alive
