Polaris Bank Hosts Employees’ Children for Fun-Filled Day of Learning and Workplace Discovery

Lagos, Nigeria, August 13, 2026 — Polaris Bank has hosted children of some of its employees for a memorable day of fun, learning and workplace discovery as part of its efforts to strengthen employee engagement and create meaningful experiences for staff and their families.
The initiative, tagged “Bring Your Child to Work,” welcomed children aged six and above and gave them an opportunity to visit their parents’ workplace, meet colleagues and gain a better understanding of what their parents do professionally.
The children, selected through an internal trivia draw for staff, participated in activities designed to encourage creativity, teamwork, networking, curiosity and learning.
A major highlight of the programme was a guided tour of the Bank’s premises, including the banking hall and various departments. The tour offered the children firsthand exposure to the banking environment while allowing them to interact with employees and learn about the different roles and functions within a financial institution.
Speaking at the event, Polaris Bank MD/CEO, Kayode Lawal, welcomed the children and encouraged them to make the most of the experience.
He said work goes beyond meetings and desks, describing it as an opportunity to solve problems, help people, learn and make meaningful contributions.
“While you are here today, be curious, ask questions, learn, and most importantly, have fun,” he told the children.
Represented by the Head of HR, Okanwaju Oyekunle, the CEO added that the programme was designed to help the children understand their parents’ professional lives while exposing them to different career possibilities.
“Who knows? Perhaps one day, some of you will become bankers, entrepreneurs, doctors, engineers, technology experts, or even leaders of great organisations,” he said.
Another key highlight was an interactive session led by the Bank’s Executive Director, Corporate & Investment Banking, Abimbola Ozomah, who introduced the children to the fundamentals of banking in a simple and engaging manner.
The children learnt about how banks operate, the importance of saving money, responsible financial habits and the role financial institutions play in helping individuals and businesses manage their finances. They also had the opportunity to ask questions and share what they had learnt.
The programme further encouraged the children to make new friends and interact with one another while reflecting on their experiences at the Bank.
For participating parents, the initiative offered an opportunity to share an important part of their daily lives with their children while teaching them the values of responsibility, collaboration, service and commitment.
The programme also highlighted the importance of curiosity and continuous learning, encouraging the children to ask questions, explore new possibilities and consider the wide range of career paths available to them.
The “Bring Your Child to Work” initiative underscores Polaris Bank’s continued focus on employee wellbeing and engagement. It also reflects the Bank’s commitment to building an inclusive, people-focused workplace where employees and their families feel valued and connected.
For the children, the experience went beyond simply visiting their parents’ workplace. It provided an opportunity to explore the world of banking, learn new things, make friends, ask questions and gain a new perspective on their parents as professionals contributing to the growth and success of an organisation.
