“They Want to Assassinate Me” — Sowore Releases Fresh Footage of Ekiti Attack
AAC presidential candidate and activist Omoyele Sowore has released additional footage showing the moment he and members of his team were attacked in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
Sowore shared the video on his verified X handle on Monday, insisting that the incident was more than a mere altercation.
The activist described the violence as a coordinated assassination attempt, expressing concern over attempts to downplay the incident.
“This is yet another footage of the brutal attack on me and members of our team in Ado-Ekiti. How anyone could watch this violence and dismiss it as a mere ‘altercation’ is beyond comprehension,” Sowore stated.
He maintained that the attack was a deliberate attempt on his life.
The incident occurred during Sowore’s visit to Ekiti State last week and sparked widespread reactions, with several Nigerians condemning the reported violence.
However, the police reportedly described the incident as a clash between Sowore and some individuals, a characterization the activist continues to dispute.
The controversy has renewed discussions about political violence, security, and the safety of political actors in Nigeria
