Nigeria–US Airstrike Crushes ISWAP Camp, 21 Militants Killed in Borno
A coordinated air operation involving the Nigerian military under Operation HADIN KAI and the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) has reportedly eliminated 21 suspected ISWAP fighters in Borno State.
The precision strike targeted an insurgent hideout in Arege, Kukawa Local Government Area, on May 30 after intelligence surveillance confirmed militant activity in the area.
Security sources say the camp was being used to plan and coordinate attacks across the Lake Chad region before it was hit in the intelligence-led operation.
Officials described the mission as part of ongoing joint efforts between Nigeria and the United States to dismantle terrorist networks and weaken insurgent capabilities in the North-East.
The successful operation is said to have disrupted ISWAP movements and further degraded their operational strength in the region.
