Four Abducted as Armed Bandits Attack Bauchi Community, Loot Shops in Alkaleri LGA

July 21, 2025 – Armed bandits launched a late-night attack on Gyale village in Mansur District, located within Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State, abducting four residents and looting several shops.
The violent incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 20, and was confirmed by the Bauchi State Police Command through its spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil.
According to the police report, the assailants infiltrated the village through the Yankari Game Reserve, targeting five provision stores and carting away goods before kidnapping four shop owners and workers.
The abducted victims have been identified as:
- Tasiu Malam Yahaya (32)
- Hakilu Ubayo (15)
- Abdul Aziz Suleiman (28)
- Rabiu Ganjua (16)
The bandits reportedly took the victims to an unknown destination.
In response, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani Omolori-Aliyu, directed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Alkaleri to lead a joint search-and-rescue mission in collaboration with local vigilantes and hunters.
“The area is now calm, but our operatives are still combing the nearby bushes to locate and rescue the victims,” CSP Wakil said. “We are hopeful of making arrests and bringing the perpetrators to justice.”
The police command has reiterated its commitment to intensifying security operations across Bauchi State, especially in vulnerable rural communities, to combat the rising threat of kidnappings and violent crime.
Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movement as security efforts continue in the region.
