The Nigerian government is finalizing necessary documentation for the release of the remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away in a London clinic on Sunday, July 13, 2025, around 4:30 p.m.

According to reports, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and other senior government officials are currently in London to oversee the repatriation process and ensure all paperwork is completed in accordance with international protocols.

Channels Television confirmed that the high-level Nigerian delegation is actively involved in facilitating the final clearance required for Buhari’s remains to be handed over to the Nigerian authorities.

In a related development, Governor Umar Radda of Katsina State announced that Buhari’s body will arrive Nigeria on Tuesday by 12:00 p.m., with his burial scheduled for 2:00 p.m. the same day in his hometown, Daura.

The former president had been battling an undisclosed illness before his death, bringing an end to the life of a man who served Nigeria both as a military ruler and a two-term democratically elected president.

Buhari’s final journey is expected to draw high-profile dignitaries and a national outpouring of grief as Nigeria prepares to lay one of its most influential leaders to rest.
