“BREAKING: Nigerian Military Sets Up Court Martial for 36 Soldiers Over Alleged Coup Plot”
The Nigerian Armed Forces has inaugurated a General Court Martial to try 36 personnel accused of involvement in an alleged plot to overthrow the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
The proceedings were formally launched on Friday at the Scorpion Mess in Asokoro, Abuja, under tight security arrangements coordinated by the Defence Headquarters.
Due to the sensitive nature of the case, the session was held behind closed doors. Journalists, including accredited defence correspondents who had earlier been invited, were denied access to the venue. Security operatives also prohibited the use of mobile phones, preventing documentation of the arrival of the accused personnel.
The 36 defendants were transported to the location in a military bus belonging to the Army Headquarters Garrison at about 8:53 a.m.
Meanwhile, the development is unfolding alongside separate legal proceedings, as the Federal Government has filed criminal charges against civilians allegedly linked to the same coup plot at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
