Troops under Operation ENDURING PEACE have dismantled an illegal arms manufacturing site in Gwandanu Village, Langtang North Local Government Area of Plateau State, arresting two suspects caught in the act of producing sophisticated firearms.
According to Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, the carefully executed raid led to the recovery of a significant cache of weapons and fabrication equipment. Items seized include two AK-47 rifles, one G3 rifle, as well as industrial tools such as generating sets, a welding machine, drilling machine, and a fully equipped technical toolbox used in the illegal production process.
In a separate operation in Gidan Waya, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, troops responded swiftly to an attack on members of the Forest Guards and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria. Working jointly, security forces pursued the attackers towards the Jaginde Forest axis.
Upon sighting advancing troops near Ungwar Maruwa, the suspects abandoned their motorcycle and fled into the bush. However, one suspect was successfully apprehended during the pursuit. Recovered items from the operation include an AK-47 rifle, an AK-49 rifle, a motorcycle, and a sleeping mat.
The arrested individuals are currently in custody as investigations continue to uncover the scale of their operations and possible links to broader criminal networks.
