47-Year-Old Native Doctor Arrested in Delta State as Police Recover Guns and Weapons

The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 47-year-old native doctor, Okonji Chimeze, following the discovery of illegal firearms and weapons at his residence in Ibusa, Delta State.
Operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cybercrime Squad carried out the arrest during a targeted operation at Umuehe Quarters in the early hours of June 14, 2025, at about 6:30 a.m.
According to a statement issued by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, officers executed a search warrant on the suspect’s residence, leading to the recovery of two automatic pump-action guns and a cutlass.
“The weapons were carefully concealed inside the ceiling of the suspect’s room,” Edafe disclosed.
The native doctor, identified as Okonji Chimeze, is currently in police custody, along with the seized weapons, as investigations continue to determine the source and intended use of the arms.
The arrest is part of the Delta State Police Command’s ongoing crackdown on illegal possession of firearms and other criminal activities across the state.
