Popular TikTok content creator Peller has voiced frustration over what he describes as an outrageous ₦36 million income tax bill issued by the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS).
Speaking during a recent livestream with singer Peruzzi, Peller claimed the tax demand was unfair, especially as he only rose to fame in 2024.
“Taskforce said I should pay ₦36 million for tax. I don’t have anything. I just came into the limelight last year,” Peller lamented.
Peruzzi, however, challenged him on his refusal to pay, reminding him that tax payment is a civic duty for Nigerians. “Do you know you’re supposed to pay tax as a Nigerian? Do you know how much I pay as tax? I won’t mention it here but it’s more than the tax bill they gave you,” the singer said, advising Peller to settle the bill to avoid legal consequences.
Peller argued that the Lagos State Government had never supported him financially and alleged that the tax was prompted by his public display of assets and disclosure of his TikTok earnings.
He maintained that his income is generated solely from social media platforms and not from activities within Nigeria. Peruzzi suggested he negotiate for more time to clear the bill, but Peller insisted the amount remained excessive and unjustified.
