Nigerian security authorities have taken custody of about 800 citizens deported from Niger Republic at the Jibia-Magama border crossing in Katsina State.

According to an operational update obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday, the returnees—comprising men, women, and children—arrived around 9:30 a.m. in eight buses.

Officials disclosed that the deportees are currently undergoing documentation and security checks by personnel of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Customs Service, the police, and other intelligence bodies.

The screening process is aimed at properly identifying the individuals and ensuring necessary security procedures are followed.

Following the exercise, the returnees are expected to be transported to Kano State for further processing and assistance.
