NDLEA Uncovers Illegal Colorado Drug Lab in Lagos, Arrests 30-Year-Old Suspect

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have dismantled a secret laboratory where “Colorado,” a potent synthetic strain of cannabis, was being manufactured inside a residential building at Ajao Estate, Isolo, Lagos State.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by Femi Babafemi, Director of Media and Advocacy at the NDLEA Headquarters, Abuja, the operation led to the arrest of 30-year-old lab operator, Stephen Kelechi Imoh, and the recovery of large quantities of freshly produced Colorado and several chemicals used in its production.

Babafemi explained that the breakthrough came after months of surveillance and intelligence gathering following the interception of multiple Colorado consignments in Lagos earlier this year, which indicated that the once-imported drug was now being produced locally.

Acting on the intelligence, NDLEA operatives stormed the Ajao Estate apartment on Thursday, October 30, 2025, and uncovered the illicit facility. Recovered items included 16.2 kilograms of freshly made Colorado, 1.7kg of ADB-CHMNACA Cannabinol, 4.5kg of Potassium Carbonate, and 91 litres of Dibromobutane—all essential materials for the drug’s production.

In a related raid, NDLEA officers on Saturday, November 1, arrested 28-year-old drug dealer, Afeez Salisu (alias Malu) in Mushin, Lagos, and recovered 16 blocks of Ghana Loud, along with designer sachets and bottles of Colorado weighing 16.4 kilograms.

Similarly, a music artist identified as Godspower George Osahenrumwen, known by his stage name Steady Boy, was arrested on October 30 while attempting to collect a shipment of 77.2 kilograms of Loud cannabis concealed in three cartons of bathtubs imported from the United States via DHL at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos. The suspect was traced to his residence in Lekki, where he was apprehended as the consignee acting on behalf of a drug syndicate led by his manager, Zion Osazee Omigie (alias Zee Money), who remains at large.

Beyond Lagos, NDLEA operatives also made several other major drug seizures across Kaduna, Ogun, Edo, Ondo, Kwara, and Taraba states — including hundreds of thousands of Tramadol pills, litres of skuchies, and tonnes of cannabis (skunk).

NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), praised the agency’s officers nationwide for their professionalism and commitment, vowing that the NDLEA will continue to dismantle drug cartels and seize their assets to cut off criminal profits.
