The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially commenced an electronic membership registration across all wards in the state.
The initiative, which began on Monday, is set to run through the end of January and targets both existing party members and new entrants, with the goal of creating a comprehensive and verifiable digital membership database.
Speaking on the launch, Lagos APC spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, said the move is designed to strengthen internal democracy, improve data accuracy, and position the party for future electoral contests.
“Digital registration will eliminate duplication and impersonation, ensuring that every member is properly recorded and verifiable,” Oladejo said.
He added that the system will provide equal recognition for both long-standing members and newcomers, reducing gatekeeping and promoting transparency within the party.
Oladejo highlighted that maintaining a credible membership registry is crucial for conducting transparent congresses, primaries, and leadership selections. He also noted that the use of technology will attract youth, professionals, and first-time political participants, while enhancing grassroots coordination and electoral preparedness.
The APC spokesman called on all members in Lagos State to actively participate in the exercise, stressing that collective engagement is essential for the party’s growth and democratic integrity.
