Chelsea and Manchester United have been handed a major transfer boost after Paris Saint-Germain reportedly left star goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma out of their UEFA Super Cup squad.

The 26-year-old Italian, recently shortlisted among the 30 nominees for the 2025 Ballon d’Or, still has a contract with PSG until 2026 but is unwilling to extend his stay at the Parc des Princes. The Ligue 1 champions have already signed Lucas Chevalier from Lille, further casting doubt over Donnarumma’s long-term future.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims the situation between Donnarumma and PSG has completely broken down, with the player’s camp describing his treatment as “unfair.” Romano also insists the goalkeeper will “100%” leave—either in the current transfer window or next summer.

Both Chelsea and Manchester United have reportedly contacted Donnarumma’s representatives, with the Premier League now emerging as the most likely destination. Inter Milan are also understood to be interested.

For United, manager Ruben Amorim is keen to strengthen competition for Andre Onana, who came under fire for multiple costly errors last season. Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca could also seek an upgrade over Robert Sanchez, whose inconsistent performances have left questions over his long-term reliability.

With his vast top-flight experience, outstanding shot-stopping ability, and leadership qualities, Donnarumma could prove a game-changing signing for either Premier League giant.
