Bitcoin Rebounds 5.5% to Near $86,000 as Crypto Market Recovers
Bitcoin staged a strong rebound on Monday, rising about 5.5% in 24 hours to around $85,900, as major cryptocurrencies and crypto-linked stocks also recorded gains.
The recovery came as investors returned to risk assets amid a decline in oil prices and renewed attention on developments surrounding the Middle East.
Among crypto-related equities, Strategy (MSTR) gained as much as 7% in pre-market trading, while Strive (ASST) rose about 6.5%. Coinbase (COIN) and Circle Internet Group (CRCL) also advanced by roughly 4% each.
Other major cryptocurrencies joined the rally. Solana climbed about 7.2% to approximately $116, while XRP gained 6.8% to around $1.48. Ethereum also increased by about 6% to approximately $2,736.
The broader cryptocurrency market rose roughly 4% to just below $3 trillion in total market capitalisation.
Despite the recovery, significant leveraged positions were wiped out during the period. According to CoinGlass, more than $720 million in cryptocurrency positions were liquidated over the preceding 24 hours, with short positions accounting for more than $620 million of the liquidations.
The market rebound coincided with a continued decline in oil prices. Brent crude recorded a fourth consecutive session of losses, its longest losing streak in three months.
Oil prices had surged above $100 per barrel the previous week amid concerns over potential disruptions to Middle Eastern supplies. West Texas Intermediate crude had risen above $106, while Brent crude approached $110.
Market sentiment was also influenced by comments from U.S. President Donald Trump, who said he would “probably” be open to meeting Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian during the United Nations General Assembly this week.
The combination of easing oil prices and developments surrounding potential diplomatic engagement contributed to renewed optimism across financial markets, with cryptocurrencies among the assets recording notable gains.
