Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has mocked former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and dismissed the strength of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), following the outcome of Saturday’s by-elections in the state.
Speaking on Sunday during a victory celebration in Nanka, Orumba North LGA, Soludo said the results confirmed that both Labour Party and ADC are “dead” and “non-existent” in Anambra, while the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) remains dominant.
“ADC does not exist in Anambra. We showed it yesterday. Labour Party is dead,” the governor said, while applauding APGA’s overwhelming win.
He further claimed that the ADC opposition coalition, which Obi supported during the polls, had attempted to test its popularity through the by-election but was rejected by the people. According to Soludo, APGA secured over 75 percent of the votes, affirming its grassroots control in the state.
“APGA is our movement,” Soludo declared, stressing that the ruling party in Anambra continues to enjoy strong support.
It will be recalled that Obi, who contested the 2023 presidential election under the Labour Party, recently aligned with the ADC coalition as part of preparations to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
