Addax PENGASSAN workers suspend strike

Members of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, who are employees of Addax Petroleum Development Nigeria, have suspended their strike.
It was learnt that the strike, which commenced last week, was suspended on Monday after the intervention of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.
The Group General Manager, National Petroleum Investment Management Services, a subsidiary of NNPC, Bala Wunti, announced via his Twitter handle on Monday night.
He said, “Sequel to several stakeholder engagements with NNPC Limited, the industrial action embarked upon by Addax PENGASSAN members has been called off with immediate effect and work has resumed fully
It should be noted that the asset has continued production despite the strike in line with the understanding reached last week.”
The workers had embarked on strike over alleged anti-labour practices by the oil company.
They had cited the inability of the Federal Government and management of the company to address their grievances and payment of their exit packages
This, according to them, was especially due to the fact that Addax had commenced plans to exit Nigeria, stressing that this was as part of their reasons for embarking on strike
