Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has alleged that human rights activist and publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, owns a mansion in the United States valued at $552,000 (approximately N885 million).
Olayinka made the claim in a post shared on his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday.
He further alleged that Sowore, who contested the 2023 presidential election under the platform of the African Action Congress (AAC), operates the party as a “sole proprietorship.”
“Sowore is the Chairman of AAC political party. He is Presidential Candidate of AAC. He is Financial Secretary of AAC. In fact, he is Sole Proprietor of AAC.
“He owns a mansion worth $552,000 (about N885m) in the U.S. Na ‘Cashtivist’ Sowore be that. Reason his party members suspended him for corruption,” Olayinka wrote.
As of the time of this report, Sowore has not publicly responded to the allegations.
The activist, known for his strong stance against corruption and government excesses, has remained a controversial figure in Nigeria’s political space, often clashing with government officials over issues of governance and accountability.
