Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has returned to Abuja following a 17-day tour of Rivers State, where he visited local government areas to consolidate political support.
During the tour, Wike, a former two-term governor of Rivers, strengthened his political networks and launched pointed criticisms at his opponents. He is actively mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Wike highlighted Rivers State’s “rainbow coalition” approach, stating that both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would collaborate to back Tinubu in the state.
He also reignited his political rivalry with Governor Sim Fubara, warning that the governor’s sudden support for Tinubu would not guarantee him the APC governorship ticket in 2027.
After concluding his visit to Port Harcourt, the FCT Minister departed Rivers State for Abuja.
In a Facebook post, Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, wrote: “FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, returns to Abuja today, after spending 17 days in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, visiting LGAs in the State.”
