Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has rewarded Super Falcons star Francisca Ordega with ₦50 million and a fully furnished three-bedroom bungalow in Makurdi for her role in Nigeria’s triumph at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The Super Falcons clinched their record-extending 10th WAFCON title, with Ordega making one appearance at the tournament before being sidelined by injury. Despite her limited playing time, the 31-year-old forward remains one of Nigeria’s most decorated women’s footballers, having lifted the WAFCON trophy five times in her career.

Governor Alia praised Ordega for her dedication and contributions to Nigerian football, describing her as a source of pride for Benue State and the nation at large.

Ordega, who plays for Al-Ittihad Ladies in Saudi Arabia, has earned 26 caps for the Super Falcons, scoring seven goals since making her debut.

This gesture adds to a growing list of rewards for the Super Falcons following their continental success, as Nigeria continues to celebrate its dominance in African women’s football.
