The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of two men allegedly involved in the armed robbery and attempted murder of Afrobeat artiste Lil Kesh, who was attacked and dispossessed of over ₦2 million in Lagos State.
The arrests follow weeks of online speculation after images surfaced in August showing the musician with visible injuries, sparking concern about his wellbeing.
Police spokesperson Abdullahi Haruna revealed on Saturday that operatives apprehended the suspects — 25-year-old Mathew Adewole of Na’ibawa Quarters, Kano, and 31-year-old Mukhtar Muhammad of Unguwa Uku Quarters — on September 11, 2025.
During questioning, Adewole admitted to attacking Lil Kesh at his residence in Bera Estate, Chevron, Lagos, on August 19. The assault left the singer with a serious neck injury.
“The suspects compelled the victim to transfer ₦2,120,000 through mobile banking into Muhammad’s account,” Haruna stated.
According to the police, the operation succeeded through effective intelligence gathering and strong community collaboration, reflecting the Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun’s directive for enhanced proactive policing.
The suspects have been transferred to the Lagos State Police Command, where further investigations and prosecution are underway.
