The Lagos State Police Command has opened an investigation after two Nollywood film crew members were discovered dead inside a parked car at a movie set in Lekki.
The deceased were identified as lighting director Ekemini ‘GeeTee’ Imeh and his colleague Ayodeji Walter Odediran. They were found unresponsive on Saturday, February 7, within the premises of Evercare Hospital, which was being used as a filming location.
A police source, speaking anonymously, explained that the two men had arrived early to set up lighting equipment for the production directed by former Big Brother Naija housemate Boma Akpore. After completing their tasks, they reportedly entered a Nissan vehicle on the premises to rest while waiting for filming to continue.
“At around 11 a.m., a crew member delivered breakfast to them, and they appeared fine with the car’s air conditioner running,” the source said. Later, attempts to contact them went unanswered. After filming ended around 8 p.m., both men were found lifeless inside the car. Preliminary observations indicated distress signs, including foaming at the mouth, and one victim reportedly had blood around the nose and lips.
The incident was promptly reported to Maroko Police Station, and CCTV footage from the location is being reviewed. The bodies have been moved to a morgue for forensic examination.
Confirming the case, Abimbola Adebisi, Lagos State Police PRO, stated that the investigation has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, Yaba. Autopsy and toxicology tests are underway to determine the cause of death.
Imeni was widely recognised in Nollywood for his work on major films, including King of Boys, and music videos for artists such as Davido.
This incident follows a similar tragedy in Lagos, where gospel musician Matthew Ogundele (Segun Praise) and three members of his crew were found dead inside a music studio in Ajah.
