Turkey Mosque Renamed After Victor Osimhen Sparks Outrage Among Muslim Worshippers

Galatasaray head coach, Okan Buruk, has confirmed that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen will feature against Karagumruk on Friday, despite an ongoing controversy over the renaming of a mosque in Turkey.
Osimhen, who missed the club’s 3-0 victory over Gaziantep on Saturday, was absent due to fitness concerns after reporting late for pre-season training. His delay followed prolonged transfer negotiations from Napoli.
The Super Eagles forward recently returned to Turkey but has now found himself at the center of an unexpected row. Worshippers in Konya expressed anger after the Bulut Mosque was listed on Google Maps as “Victor Osimhen Mosque.”
Zeki Yaylacı, a member of the mosque community, condemned the incident, calling it “a shame to name a non-Muslim and make a mockery of it,” describing it as an insult to Muslims, the mosque, and the faith.
Initial findings suggest Osimhen had no involvement in the renaming, which appears to have resulted from incorrect user-generated edits on Google Maps.
