Trump Rejects Iran Ceasefire Terms as Conflict Deepens, Fresh Strikes Rock Tehran

U.S. President Donald Trump has dismissed Iran’s response to a proposed ceasefire, describing it as inadequate despite acknowledging some level of engagement, as tensions continue to escalate across the region.
The latest developments come amid intensified military operations, with joint U.S.-Israeli strikes across Iran reportedly killing at least 34 people, including several children. The attacks have targeted key locations, raising international concern over civilian safety.
Tehran has responded with strong warnings, vowing retaliation after Trump issued a deadline demanding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz or face further attacks on critical infrastructure such as power plants and bridges.
In a counteroffensive, Iranian missile strikes have hit Israeli territory, including a residential building in Haifa, where at least four people were confirmed dead. The escalation has expanded beyond Israel, with Iranian strikes also reported on vital facilities in Gulf countries such as Kuwait and Bahrain, affecting energy and water infrastructure.
Meanwhile, reports of explosions in Tehran have heightened fears of further escalation, although details remain limited.
Foreign policy analyst Trita Parsi suggested that while there may be some room for limited diplomatic progress on Iran’s nuclear programme, the situation surrounding the Strait of Hormuz could lead to a lasting shift in regional power dynamics.
According to Parsi, Iran may continue to exert control over the strategic waterway, potentially introducing transit arrangements with regional partners. Such a scenario, he noted, could reshape global energy routes and redefine geopolitical influence in the Middle East.
As hostilities intensify, concerns are growing over the broader implications for global oil supply, regional stability, and the risk of a prolonged conflict with far-reaching consequences.
