Several motorists narrowly escaped death on Tuesday after a tipper truck collided with a stationary oil tanker and another articulated vehicle at Berger Bridge, inward Epe, along the Epe–Ibeju Lekki Expressway in Lagos State.

According to eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred when a granite-laden tipper truck lost control and rammed into a broken-down Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) tanker and another articulated vehicle loaded with tyres.

The crash caused panic among road users, though no lives were lost.

Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) stated that it received multiple distress calls and swiftly dispatched its response team to the scene.

Upon arrival, responders found that the LPG tanker, bearing registration number MKA-232ZE, had earlier broken down due to a mechanical fault, partially obstructing the road.

While repairs were ongoing, the speeding tipper lost control and slammed into the stranded vehicles, triggering a chain collision.

LASEMA further confirmed that the driver of the tipper and his assistant sustained varying degrees of injuries. They were given first aid by personnel of the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) before being transferred to Epe General Hospital for further treatment.

The registration details of the other trucks involved were yet to be confirmed as of the time of filing this report.
