Troops Repel Bandit Invasion in Taraba, Seize Firearms and Motorcycles

According to a statement issued by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 6 Brigade, the operation was launched following credible intelligence about the movement of armed criminals from a nearby forest.

“On October 9, 2025, soldiers stationed at Tapga Ngasawa Village received reliable information from residents of Majebiyu Village, Ibi LGA, that suspected bandits had stormed the community, firing gunshots indiscriminately, vandalising property, and carting away motorcycles and other belongings,” the statement read.

Troops immediately mobilised to the area and engaged the attackers. However, on sighting the advancing soldiers, the criminals fled into the forest, abandoning five dane guns and two motorcycles, believed to have been used during their operations.

The Commander of 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the troops for their swift response, bravery, and professionalism during the encounter. He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to eliminating illegal weapons and preventing them from being used to threaten peace and security across the state.

General Uwa urged residents to remain vigilant and law-abiding, while continuing to share timely and accurate information with security agencies to support ongoing counter-banditry efforts in Taraba and neighbouring regions.
