Tragedy in Sokoto: Several Missing as Boat Capsizes During Bandit Attack Escape

According to eyewitness accounts, the wooden boat, which was carrying mostly women, overturned at about 7:30 pm while residents were fleeing a suspected bandit attack. The vessel reportedly struck the edge of a culvert, causing it to tip over and throw passengers into the water.
Emergency responders and local divers have since launched rescue operations to recover victims and search for possible survivors.
Authorities are yet to confirm the exact number of casualties, but fears remain high as several people are still unaccounted for.
