Tragedy in Lagos: Death Toll from Ojodu-Berger Building Collapse Rises to 5, 15 Rescued

The ill-fated structure, situated at 9 & 10 Oremeta Street, caved in on Saturday, trapping several individuals, including staff and customers of a restaurant operating within the premises. Initially, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed one death and nine injuries. However, the latest statement from the Lagos Territorial Office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) indicates that five persons have now been confirmed dead, while 15 others have been rescued alive from the rubble.
Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, the Lagos Territorial Coordinator for NEMA, revealed that the deceased include two adult males and three adult females. Among those rescued alive are six adult females and nine adult males.
Emergency response teams have since intensified search and rescue efforts at the site, with the entire area secured to ensure safety and allow unhindered operations.
LASEMA reaffirmed that precautionary measures have been implemented to prevent further harm and ensure swift medical attention for survivors.
