A 45-year-old man was killed during a late-night assault by suspected bandits in Badole Village, located in the Kankia Local Government Area of Katsina State, North-West Nigeria.

The attack occurred around 11:00 p.m. on Monday, April 14, and resulted in the tragic death of a resident identified as Audu Akawi.

Reports from local sources and regional security observers indicate that the assailants arrived under the cover of darkness, opened fire, and fled the scene immediately after the shooting. The gunmen escaped before security personnel could intervene.

According to information shared by a regional security analyst on Tuesday, law enforcement authorities responded quickly to a distress alert and moved into the area, but the attackers had already vanished by the time they arrived.

The killing of Audu Akawi has reignited concerns over rising insecurity and the persistence of banditry in rural communities across Katsina State.

Local leaders and residents are urging government and security agencies to step up surveillance and protection efforts in vulnerable areas to prevent further loss of life.
