Traffic Chaos as Aggrieved Truck Drivers Shut Down Lagos–Ibadan Expressway

A major traffic crisis erupted on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway on Wednesday after a truck driver reportedly blocked both lanes at the Ogere axis in protest against alleged extortion by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

Eyewitnesses said the driver accused FRSC personnel of confiscating his truck battery, prompting him to obstruct movement on the Ibadan-bound lane.
In a show of solidarity, several other truck drivers joined the demonstration, extending the blockade to the Lagos-bound carriageway and causing a total gridlock on the busy highway.

Security operatives, including police officers and soldiers, were said to have attempted to restore order, but the agitated crowd resisted, hindering immediate intervention.
