Tiwa Savage Reveals Heartbreak Inspired Her Painful Tattoo Experience

Nigerian music star Tiwa Savage has opened up about how the pain of heartbreak pushed her to get a tattoo, describing the experience as both emotional and physically intense.
In a recent interview with media personality Katy Igwe, the singer revealed that she flew in a tattoo artist from Los Angeles to her home in Lagos, opting for privacy rather than visiting a tattoo parlour.
Savage explained that she wanted to process her emotions in a safe and comfortable environment, away from public scrutiny.
“I flew in my tattoo artist from LA to Nigeria, and I did it in my room. I didn’t want to be in a tattoo parlour where everyone could see me going through that pain. I wanted to be in a space where I was comfortable,” she said.
According to the award-winning star, the session was so intense that her tattoo artist grew concerned.
“There was blood everywhere, and he kept asking me, ‘What are you trying to do?’ But I was doing it from the pain I felt after a heartbreak. I just wanted to scream through it,” Savage recalled.
Reflecting on the difficult period, Tiwa admitted the past two years were tough due to a toxic relationship, but she expressed gratitude for moving past it.
“The relationship I went through was crazy, but I’m so happy I’m out of it now,” she added.
