Tinubu’s Popularity Crashes as El-Rufai Claims 91% Disapproval in North and Southeast

Former Kaduna State Governor and Social Democratic Party (SDP) chieftain, Nasir El-Rufai, has delivered a scathing assessment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, claiming the President has effectively lost the support of the people.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Monday evening, El-Rufai stated that Tinubu has a staggering 91% disapproval rating in Northern Nigeria and the Southeast.

“In the last two years, President Tinubu has performed miserably in critical sectors—security, economy, and trade,” El-Rufai said. “We’ve conducted polling in various regions, and the results are clear. Even in Lagos, Tinubu faces a 78% disapproval rating. In the Southwest, while he performs slightly better in places like Ondo and Ekiti, he still hasn’t surpassed 50% approval anywhere.”

El-Rufai didn’t hold back, declaring:

“The guy is gone. The economy has collapsed, the nation’s security architecture has failed, and there’s no clear direction on trade and investment. Revenues are being raised, but there’s no transparency or result to show for it.”

He urged Nigerians to reflect on their quality of life under Tinubu’s administration since he assumed office on May 29, 2023, and consider giving other leaders a chance if the current state of affairs has not improved their lives.
