Tinubu’s Approval Rating Hits 37% at Mid-Term, Says EBDA Nationwide Poll

As President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reaches the midpoint of his first four-year term, a new public opinion poll conducted by Eagle Badger Data Analytics (EBDA) shows that only 37.2 percent of Nigerians approve of his performance in office.

The nationwide survey, conducted via telephone between July 4 and 10, 2025, revealed that 43.4 percent of respondents disapprove of Tinubu’s leadership so far, while 12.2 percent remained neutral. Another 7.2 percent of participants declined to provide an opinion.

The poll asked a single, straightforward question:
“Do you approve or disapprove of President Tinubu’s performance?”

According to Sharon Orisakwe, CEO of EBDA, the survey followed a stratified random sampling method to ensure accurate national representation. “The poll has a margin of error of ±3 percent at a 95 percent confidence level,” Orisakwe said, noting that interviews were conducted in respondents’ preferred languages to encourage honest responses.

Global Context: How Tinubu’s Approval Rating Compares

President Tinubu’s 37% approval rating places him in the lower-middle tier of current world leaders in terms of public support. For comparison:

  • Donald Trump, who is serving a controversial second term as President of the United States, currently holds an approval rating of around 40 percent, depending on the polling agency.
  • In South Africa, President Cyril Ramaphosa is polling at 30 percent, reflecting widespread dissatisfaction over economic stagnation and corruption concerns.
  • In the United Kingdom, Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s approval has dipped into the mid‑20s, according to recent public opinion trackers.
  • French President Emmanuel Macron fares similarly, with approval ratings ranging between 24 percent and 29 percent, amid backlash over controversial policy reforms and national protests.

While approval ratings vary across global democracies and can shift due to economic, social, or political developments, the EBDA poll offers a timely snapshot of how Nigerian voters currently perceive President Tinubu’s leadership at the critical mid-term mark.Published by SpringnewsNG Media Limited
