As Nigerians prepare for the year 2026, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has restated his administration’s determination to decisively defeat banditry and terrorism across the country.

The President also cautioned citizens to avoid excessive alcohol consumption and any conduct that could endanger lives during the Yuletide season. Tinubu gave the warning while hosting organisers of the Eyo Festival at his Lagos residence, ahead of the cultural event scheduled for December 27.

He called on Nigerians to celebrate responsibly, stressing the need for peace, harmony, and mutual respect during the festive period.

Speaking at the event, Tinubu expressed joy over the preservation of Yoruba culture through the Eyo Carnival, describing it as a symbol of unity, brotherhood, and cultural pride. He prayed for a joyful Christmas and a peaceful holiday season for Nigerians.

According to him, the festive period should be marked by love, safety, and moderation, not recklessness or violence. He noted that the progress being witnessed in Lagos reflects Nigeria’s overall journey toward development.

The President assured Nigerians that his government remains resolute in tackling insecurity, declaring that banditry and terrorism would be defeated.
