Speaking at the inauguration of the National Youth Congress Planning Committee at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Tinubu emphasized that his administration’s policies prioritize youth empowerment and long-term national development.
Fuel Subsidy Removal: A Step Towards a Prosperous Future
Tinubu highlighted the importance of making tough decisions today to ensure a better tomorrow. He stated:
“Every decision I make is about securing the future. Removing the fuel subsidy was necessary to invest in critical infrastructure and create economic opportunities for our youth. If we grow prosperity at home, our people will have fewer reasons to seek opportunities abroad. Nigeria is our home, and it must be developed for future generations.”
The President reassured Nigerian youths that his administration is committed to addressing their concerns and fostering an environment where they can thrive.
Nigeria’s Economic Turnaround
Addressing the economic impact of his policies, Tinubu noted that despite initial challenges, positive changes are already taking shape.
“At the beginning, things seemed uncertain. But today, our economy is improving, prices are stabilizing, investor confidence is rising, and technology is advancing. The future is in your hands, and my role is to help clear the obstacles in your path,” he said.
A Call for Youth Engagement in Governance
Tinubu urged young Nigerians to take governance seriously and actively participate in shaping the country’s future.
“Politics is about development and the next generation. Speak up about what needs improvement, share your suggestions, and we will work to implement them for Nigeria’s progress,” he assured.
Youth Congress Planning Committee Inauguration
The President officially launched the National Youth Congress Planning Committee, urging them to leverage technology, focus on agricultural development, and work towards Nigeria’s food security.
Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, praised the initiative, describing Tinubu’s government as a listening administration that values youth contributions.
Samson Itodo, Executive Director of Yiaga Africa and a lead member of the committee, commended Tinubu’s commitment to youth engagement, emphasizing that the committee will drive impactful policies for young Nigerians.
This development marks another step in Tinubu’s drive to create a more inclusive, prosperous, and youth-driven Nigeria.
