Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has returned to training just days after suffering an injury scare while playing for Chippa United in the South African Premier League.

The 29-year-old was stretchered off in the 35th minute of Tuesday’s league clash against Richards Bay, sparking fears over his availability for Nigeria’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa.

However, Nwabali eased concerns after taking part in a light training session with his teammates at Chippa United’s training ground on Friday night.

Set for Weekend Action

The shot-stopper is now expected to feature when Chippa United face Orlando Pirates at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday.

Boost for Nigeria

On Friday, Nwabali was officially named in Nigeria’s final 23-man squad for the qualifiers against Rwanda’s Amavubi and South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.

He is scheduled to join the Super Eagles camp in Uyo after fulfilling his club commitments.

Nwabali’s recovery comes as a major boost for Nigeria, with fans hopeful that his recent fine form in goal will help strengthen the team’s World Cup qualification campaign.
