Scottish Premiership champions Celtic got a late boost from new signing Kelechi Iheanacho, who marked his debut with a decisive goal in their 2-1 victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Sunday.

The Nigerian striker came off the bench in the 70th minute for his first appearance under manager Brendan Rodgers. With the game level deep into stoppage time, Iheanacho calmly converted a penalty to secure all three points for the Hoops.

Speaking after the match, the 27-year-old expressed his delight at making an immediate impact.

“I feel really, really good. It’s the last kick of the game, and I got to take it, so I’m really happy,” Iheanacho told Celtic’s official website.

The debut strike has already endeared Iheanacho to Celtic fans, who will be hoping he can play a key role in their title defense and European campaign this season.
