Suspected Lakurawa gunmen have killed two currency exchange operators in a deadly attack at a border market in Sokoto State.
Sources said the victims were ambushed while conducting their business at the busy market, where traders from across the border converge. The assailants reportedly opened fire at close range, killing the two operators instantly before fleeing the scene.
Local residents expressed shock and fear over the incident, noting that such attacks are becoming increasingly frequent in border communities. Many traders have now begun taking extra precautions or temporarily closing their businesses.
Security agencies have been alerted, and efforts are reportedly underway to track the perpetrators and restore safety in the market. No official statement has been released by the authorities as of now.
