“Sheikh Gumi Calls ‘Christian Genocide’ Claims a Plot Against Shariah, Stoking Islamophobia”

Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has dismissed claims of an ongoing “Christian genocide” in Nigeria as a deliberate attempt to undermine Shariah law and spread Islamophobia.
In a post on his verified Facebook page on Tuesday, Gumi argued that the narrative of Christian persecution is being pushed by certain groups to portray Muslims as extremists and attack Islamic principles.
“After the fog has cleared, the alleged ‘Christian genocide’ in Nigeria is part of a well-orchestrated plan targeting Shariah law and fueling Islamophobia,” he said.
The statement comes after former U.S. President Donald Trump designated Nigeria as a country of particular concern, citing alleged violence against Christians and claiming the government has failed to protect religious minorities.
The Nigerian government has firmly rejected these allegations, insisting that no religious group in the country is being persecuted.
