Several Nigerian soldiers were injured after terrorists ambushed troops deployed to rescue kidnapped schoolgirls in Kebbi State.

The attack occurred just 24 hours after the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, directed Operation Fasan Yamma troops to intensify efforts against the bandits responsible for abducting students from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga.

“You must continue day and night fighting. We must find these children,” Shaibu ordered, emphasizing the need for intelligence-led operations. “Once you receive actionable information, act professionally and decisively. This is not just about our image; it is about doing our job properly,” he added.

Troops were instructed to maintain round-the-clock operations until all abducted students are safely rescued and reunited with their families. During the mission, however, the terrorists launched a deadly ambush, leaving several soldiers injured.

Video evidence from the scene shows wounded soldiers awaiting medical assistance, while operational vehicles were riddled with bullets. One injured soldier reportedly said in Hausa, “Musa has a bullet lodged in his leg. His condition is very bad.”

The ambush underscores the continuing threat posed by armed groups in the region, even as the military intensifies efforts to rescue abducted civilians and restore security.
