Former Turkish footballer and analyst Serhat Akın has issued a strong caution to Galatasaray forward Mauro Icardi, stating that the Argentine must raise his level of performance due to the exceptional impact Victor Osimhen is making at the club.
Speaking in remarks published by Habersarikirmizi, Akın highlighted a growing comparison between the two strikers, noting that Osimhen has elevated expectations among supporters.
He stated that Icardi risks losing the admiration of the Galatasaray fanbase if he fails to respond competitively to Osimhen’s rapid influence and scoring form.
Akın remarked, “Osimhen is an extraordinary centre-forward, operating on a completely different level. If Icardi does not improve quickly and this situation continues, the love he enjoys from the fans could fade, just like any affection that goes unreciprocated.”
He added that although both players remain highly regarded in Türkiye, Osimhen’s performance has set a new benchmark that Icardi cannot afford to ignore.
