Delta North Senator, Ned Nwoko, has reaffirmed his strong belief that the proposed Anioma State possesses the financial strength and natural resources required to function as a viable and independent state within the federation.

During an interview on Sunday Politics on Channels Television, the lawmaker responded to concerns that the creation of new states might place additional strain on national resources, especially since several states currently struggle to meet their salary obligations.

Senator Nwoko noted that Delta State receives one of the highest monthly allocations from the Federation Account Allocation Committee due to its significant oil and gas contributions. He further stated that Delta North alone accounts for nearly 40 percent of these funds.

According to him, that portion surpasses what some existing states earn today, including Ebonyi, Enugu, and Zamfara, which demonstrates Anioma’s economic readiness.

He emphasised that the region’s financial profile underscores its potential to thrive as a new state if approved.
