American-Jamaican singer Sean Kingston has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison for his involvement in a $1 million fraud scheme that targeted luxury goods dealers.

Kingston, born Kisean Paul Anderson, was convicted in March alongside his mother, Janice Eleanor Turner, on multiple charges including conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud. Turner received a five-year prison sentence last month.

According to prosecutors, Kingston leveraged his celebrity status to acquire expensive items such as a bulletproof Cadillac Escalade, luxury watches, and a 19-foot LED television without making payments. Court filings revealed that he used falsified wire transfer receipts and lured sellers with promises of social media promotion.

During sentencing at a South Florida federal court, U.S. District Judge David Leibowitz ordered Kingston’s immediate remand, dismissing a request from his defense team for a delayed surrender due to health concerns.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Marc Anton described Kingston as “a thief and a conman,” stressing that he systematically exploited his fame to defraud victims over several years.

His attorney, Zeljka Bozanic, argued that the 35-year-old singer lacked financial discipline but had already begun repaying some victims.

The sentencing follows Kingston’s dramatic arrest in May 2024, when a SWAT team raided his rented mansion in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, seizing several luxury items tied to the fraud case.

Sean Kingston first rose to stardom at age 17 with his 2007 chart-topping single Beautiful Girls, but his career has since been overshadowed by legal troubles.
