The strict measure, aimed at preserving the sanctity, spiritual focus, and safety of the holy pilgrimage, applies to sacred locations including the Masjid al-Haram in Makkah, Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah, and other important Hajj areas such as Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah.
According to an official statement released on Tuesday, violators of the rule may face serious legal consequences, as Saudi authorities move to safeguard the religious atmosphere and ensure an undisturbed pilgrimage for millions of Muslims worldwide.
“The Hajj is a time of devotion, humility, and collective worship. Activities that detract from these values, including unauthorized media recording or political gestures, will not be tolerated,” the ministry emphasized.
Why the Ban?
Saudi officials state that the rule is intended to maintain a peaceful and spiritually enriching environment, especially in light of recent global tensions and the ever-growing number of pilgrims visiting the Kingdom each year. Authorities are especially concerned about individuals using the holy event as a platform for political expression, protests, or social media content.
Enforcement Strategy for Hajj 2025
To uphold the new regulation, security personnel will be stationed at all major Hajj sites throughout the pilgrimage season, monitoring compliance and guiding pilgrims on proper conduct.
The ministry also urged pilgrims to prioritize worship and reflection, and to fully cooperate with local authorities and event organizers.
“We call on all guests of Allah to respect the guidelines and contribute to a safe, orderly, and deeply spiritual Hajj experience in 2025,” the statement concluded.
