AS Roma have parted ways with manager Daniele De Rossi after a disappointing start to the 2024/2025 season, failing to secure a single win in the first four games. The club confirmed De Rossi’s dismissal on Wednesday, following mounting pressure from fans and the board due to the poor run of form.
De Rossi, a club legend and former Roma captain, was appointed as head coach in June 2024, taking over with hopes of revitalizing the team. However, the squad struggled to find momentum under his leadership, recording two draws and two losses in the Serie A, leaving them in the lower half of the table.
Club President Dan Friedkin, in a brief statement, thanked De Rossi for his contributions to the team but acknowledged the need for immediate change. “We had hoped for a more positive start, but results have not met our expectations. Daniele will always remain a part of Roma’s history, but at this time, we must move in a different direction,” Friedkin said.
Despite high expectations, the team’s struggles both in defense and attack were evident in their sluggish performances, with many questioning De Rossi’s tactics and team selection.
Roma fans, who had initially supported De Rossi’s appointment due to his long-standing connection with the club, expressed disappointment over the team’s form, calling for urgent changes.
As the search for a new manager begins, Roma will be looking to bounce back quickly in what remains a long and challenging season. For now, interim manager Bruno Conti is expected to take over while the club scouts for a permanent replacement.
