The proposed spending plan, christened the “Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development,” received approval after extensive deliberations at the council’s meeting held on Friday.

The session, which was the first EXCO meeting of 2026, was chaired by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, with Deputy Governor, Prof. Ngozi Odu, and other key members of the council in attendance.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, the governor’s Special Adviser on Economic Matters and Social Development, Prof. Peter Medee, disclosed that the council approved a total sum of N1,854,248,734,475.76 as the proposed expenditure for the provision of goods and services in the state in 2026.

He added that the proposal is also aimed at meeting key financial obligations of the state while driving sustainable growth and development across critical sectors.
