Plateau State cleric, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has sounded the alarm over a new threat to his life, claiming that Boko Haram terrorists have reportedly placed a bounty on his head, promising a reward to anyone who kills him.
Rev. Dachomo, the Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi, disclosed the threat in a video shared online Thursday, linking it to his consistent exposure of Christian killings and mass burials in Plateau and Nigeria’s Middle Belt region.
The outspoken clergyman has also faced pressure from authorities, alleging that individuals linked to President Bola Tinubu warned him to stop posting videos documenting the atrocities. His Facebook and Instagram accounts have been deleted, with Meta restricting him from posting content deemed a potential threat to national security.
In the video, Rev. Dachomo stated:
“Boko Haram, the Islamic terrorists, have placed a bounty on my head, and anyone who kills me first will be rewarded.”
Despite the danger, he insisted that he will continue his advocacy, emphasizing the importance of raising global awareness about Christian persecution and insecurity in Nigeria.
“Before I began exposing Christian genocide in Plateau, I knew my life was at risk, but I do not fear death. My death would hurt them more than my life,” he said.
“This is not just about me; it is about every Nigerian seeking peace and safety. We need collective support to stand against terrorism.”
Rev. Dachomo’s warning underscores the growing threats faced by activists and religious leaders confronting violent extremist groups in Nigeria’s volatile regions.
