Remo Stars Football Club have made history by clinching their first Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title, becoming the 2024–25 season champions after a decisive 1–0 victory over Niger Tornadoes on April 27 at their home stadium in Ikenne.

The title was secured with three games left in the season, as the team opened a 10-point gap over their nearest challengers, Rivers United. Substitute Olamilekan Adedayo scored the lone and decisive goal in the 84th minute, sending fans into a frenzy.

Remo Stars are the first club from Nigeria’s Southwest to win the NPFL since Julius Berger in 2000, and notably, the first privately owned team in decades to lift the trophy. The club’s rise to national dominance has been attributed to long-term planning, investment in youth development, and consistent leadership under head coach Daniel Ogunmodede.

Celebrations peaked on Matchday 37 with a resounding 4–1 derby win over Ikorodu City, where the NPFL trophy was officially presented. Thousands of fans gathered at the stadium to witness the crowning moment, capping off a dream season for a club once considered outsiders.

The victory marks a turning point in Nigerian club football, showing that well-run private institutions can thrive in a league traditionally dominated by government-backed teams.
