Pastor Folu Adeboye, wife of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor E.A. Adeboe, has alleged that a senior RCCG pastor absconded with $8,000 meant for church use, abandoned his wife, and remarried in the United States.
The shocking revelation was made during her ministration at a men’s fellowship programme organized by the church. A video of her speaking about the incident has since gone viral on social media.
According to Pastor Folu, the unnamed pastor—originally from Ekiti State—was previously posted to Cape Town, South Africa. The funds he allegedly diverted were designated for the acquisition of a permanent site for the local RCCG parish.
Narrating the situation, Pastor Folu expressed deep concern over the state of the abandoned wife, who is reportedly now facing severe emotional and mental distress.
“The woman he left behind in South Africa is presently in a terrible state—almost running mad,” she said during the programme.
She went on to challenge the men of the church, urging them to uphold integrity and spiritual accountability.
“RCCG men, what are we going to do? Are we going to continue with such a lying spirit, a deceitful spirit before the God of the kingdom?” she asked.
The incident has triggered widespread reactions online, with many questioning how a pastor could violate both spiritual and ethical standards while holding a leadership role within the church.
